Why I Love Dollar Tree

So this past Monday, my sister-in-law gave birth to our nephew and godson. I am so beyond excited I can’t describe it. He’s truly the perfect little guy! He was very pink, interactive, and oh that baby smell.
To get ready for the big day, I prepared a few gifts for the Mama, Baby, and the Big Sister. (My husband has Daddy covered via alcohol).

The Big Sister is almost 4 – I can’t even believe it. I wanted to make sure she felt very special on the big day, so I made a little crafty basket for her. She’s very into art these days.
That’s where my new best friend, Dollar Tree, comes into play. I got all of this…

…for less than $25!
My niece was obsessed with the glue and her little tissues. It was adorable and it gave her something to do while we were in the hospital. The two pencil cases were a godsend when it was time to clean up, too. I’m definitely going to remember that for next time!

For the Mama, I brought some small things I thought would make her hospital stay and the first weeks back home a little easier. I didn’t get these things from Dollar Tree, but I didn’t spend a fortune on them either.
The stationary and tissues were Dollar Tree (oh yeah). The lunchskins baggies were from the Container Store. If you’ve never used these, you need to! They’re amazing. They take the place of your Ziploc baggies and they’re dishwasher safe. Whhhaaatt! Sandwich size and snack size are available. The magazine was one that I’d want to read because it literally had one to two recipes per page, and Food & Wine has never disappointed me. The funky spice mix you see is actually this fantastic chili seasoning we got at a spice fair earlier this year. I figured chili is an easy meal for a Mama with a newborn.

And for the Little Man, I decided to get a little creative. I love the Godfather series, so I had to get these when I saw them on Etsy. You can find the buttons here and the onesie here. Both were a funny little treat that got some good laughs. We’re planning on passing along the buttons to our baby’s godparents in just a short time!

We were very proud of our buttons!

Author: Pineapple House Rules

In our house, there are a few rules. Like, for example: Rule #41: Never run out of sour cream or toilet paper. Rule #83: Sneezing after having any number of children is considered dangerous. Rule #104: The freezer is a valued member of the household. Rule #151: Dogs will always wear costumes on major [and some minor] holidays. Rule #41(a): Also wine. Never run out of wine.
